Five years ago, I lost my father — a heartbreak that changed my life forever. His passing became the catalyst that brought me to Mexico, where I discovered shamanic wisdom and the healing practices that would transform everything.

For almost two decades, I struggled with addiction and depression. Nothing seemed to work — until I found plant medicine, Kundalini activation, breathwork, and somatic healing. These practices became my turning point. They led me to my shamanic soul family and opened the door to deep emotional, physical, and spiritual healing.

These experiences awakened a part of me I didn't realize was still alive — giving me clarity, purpose, and a new beginning.

Along this path, I received a message that was clear, simple, and undeniable: that I would bring people to this land, one by one, to receive the healing they are ready for.

That is how Volver a Casa was born — a space for those who are ready to let go of what no longer serves them, and return to who they truly are.

This is my story. But it is also an invitation into yours.

My journey to self-healing began at 16, yet I still struggled for years. Generational trauma plagued my family, and I felt called to break these cycles — for current and future generations.

In 2020, an immersive, life-changing journey in Ecuador introduced me to the plant medicines Ayahuasca and San Pedro — known as Grandmother and Grandfather medicine. I was immediately liberated from chronic physical and emotional pain.

Through this experience I reconnected to my native Taíno and African heritages and embraced my lineage as a curandera — a medicine woman. The Grandmother and Grandfather medicines showed me a path to my true calling.

I now integrate these ancestral traditions with modern psychology and alternative healing practices in my roles as counselor and spiritual coach.

Volver a Casa is held by a dedicated and deeply experienced team of facilitators, healers, and guides. Every ceremony, session, and retreat is supported by people who have walked their own healing paths and are committed to holding space with integrity, safety, and love.

Mainrad Cortés

Ayahuasca and Psychotherapy Facilitator

Born in Mexico City in 1969, Mainrad's early passion was music — teaching and playing guitar before moving into a successful business career. After overcoming cocaine addiction, he faced depression and anxiety that conventional treatments couldn't resolve. This search for deeper healing led him to humanistic psychotherapy, addiction counseling, and eventually the founding of one of the first specialized addiction clinics in Mexico.

Recognizing the limitations of traditional rehabilitation models, he chose a different path — one that led him through Buddhism, Siberian shamanism, cognitive-behavioral recovery methods, and studies in semiology. His introduction to ayahuasca opened a new chapter entirely. He completed two training cycles at the European Ayahuasca School and continued his learning in Colombia with traditional healer Taita Juan Pedro Males Jamioy.
